PROJECT CO-ORDINATION:
More than just service we create relationships with suppliers and clients. Our suppliers are our greatest allies and in every way form part of the team
VENUE SCOUTING No matter what kind of party you are planning, one of your most important decisions will be your choice of venue. Your decision making will relate to the scale of your event: how may guest you plan to invite and how you intend to entertain them. Planning an event is a production: the venue and setting are the stage. The location might not always be perfect. The challenge is in adapting the setting to your vision, despite any obstacles.
SITE ANALYSIS I always carry out a thorough site inspection of the venue. This helps me determine if the venue will meet my client’s needs and also helps me determine my hiring needs from outside suppliers.
INFRASTRUCTURE
I have specialisized in garden weddings where I have had to bring in almost all infrastructure using various suppliers. I enjoy working with marquee tents. They are big open spaces, like blank canvases. Tents also give you the flexibility of location, since they can be erected anywhere. Pitch a tent on you own property and it’s the best of both worlds. Organizing this kind of function involves an enormous amount of work in terms of the assembly of the infrastructure. I pride myself on my time
WEATHER I usually obtain a weather forecast from the Weather Bureau, especially in the case of outdoor functions. Flexibility is essential when it comes to sudden weather changes. It is always important to have a backup plan. Management skills when organizing an outdoor function.
FUNCTION DESIGN
INTRODUCTION Each function is made unique by its setting, by management and by the guests.
Function organizing requires that the various facilities be utilized as efficiently and economically as possible. This can be done through clever design and décor. Very often the use of décor can add to the event theme and change a fairly boring or uninteresting space into and exciting venue. When designing the décor of your event, remember to consider flow. This will be achieved through the choice of table layout. My Exhibition design background has given me the knowledge to present my clients with detailed layout drawings. This helps them visualize the space that is available and it also benefits me and my team during set-up.
Design Elements that create the Mood: Important design elements for your function are the lighting, colour scheme and texture. These elements set the mood and atmosphere you want to create.
Lighting: Special effects lighting can turn an average venue into and exciting event. All your carefully chosen decoration will go unnoticed without the proper illumination.
Texture: Texture is a key ingredient for tickling the senses and heightening mood.
Colour: Colour truly affects the energy of a space. Colour will influence most of the details of an event. When bringing colour together, be sure that you select colours that create a harmonious flow.
Flowers: No event is complete without some kind of floral décor especially at weddings. Flowers have long been considered a symbol of love. Flower arrangements must work in harmony with the theme of the function.
My Style / My Approach / My Design Approach: When I interview a client I try to find out as much as possible about them, their likes and dislikes. This will give me certain clues about their style. Fashion, art, architecture and trends also help predict the style. The client will have a basic vision of what she wants. I will help my client articulate this vision or mood and make it a reality. Together we go through the process of envisioning and creating an entire environment for their guests from scratch. When you design an event or its theme, you are surrounding your guests with a part of who you are. The concept will develop around her choice of wedding style and colour scheme. This will also help set the mood and theme. With my design background I help to plan and design the décor for the event. I approach designing a function with great adventure and encourage my client to enjoy the journey with me. I work closely with various professionals to bring the celebration to life. When a function is designed and planned properly, it will be the range of emotional reactions that makes your function memorable. I believe in meticulous attention to detail.
Here are a few examples of different styles: BAROQUE INTIMATE URBAN CLASSICAL ROMANTIC BOHEMIAN AFRICAN TRADITIONAL ANTIQUE CONTEMPORARY
Style is versatile; it can be anything for anyone. Style is a personal statement, since it represents what is of interest or matters to you
CATERING Food, beverage and celebration are inextricably connected. It is commonly accepted that if the catering was good the event was a success.
Most venues have on-site caterers. If there is no ‘on-site ’caterer it is up to me to appoint an organization to provide the necessary facilities. The client may also appoint a preferred caterer.
